मन की, आँखों की बनावट ऐसी है, जिसमें बाहर की वस्तुएँ ही दीखती हैं। बाहर से भी सिकुड़कर वे सामने ही केंद्रित रह जाती हैं। जो चीजें सामने नहीं, वे ध्यान में ही नहीं रहतीं। फोड़ा उठता है, तो दीखता है। अपच में क्या हानि हो सकती है, यह समझ में नहीं आता; क्योंकि पेट का भारीपन प्रत्यक्ष नहीं है। सच बात यह है कि प्रत्यक्ष की उत्पत्ति परोक्ष में होती है। जो भीतर है, वही उबालकर बाहर आता है और जब उस उफान का स्वरूप सामने आता है, तब प्रतीत होता है कि समय से पहले ध्यान देने की बात याद ही नहीं रही।
